One year well done...

To my faithful readers:  I apologize for the long stint of no blogging.  You will understand when I describe the last 7 months of our lives since I last blogged.

Quick update:  Aria finished his teaching job at Sunset.  Now he's getting paid to sit around and do nothing this summer, which is awesome!   He's been spending some time getting ready for a summer class at DTS and helping get our new apartment all set up, among other things.  Aria starts Fall classes at DTS on August 23 and we're super excited!  We've been waiting for this stage of life for a long time now, and it's finally here.  Oh ya, so we moved to Mansfield, TX.  We're in a cute little apartment in the newer development area.  We moved out here to help Bryan start a new church plant.  Aria's been working on that a lot too.  Hoping to have a website soon, etc.  We've been meeting on Tuesday nights with our group for a while now to pray for the new church and talk about how we can be more missional in helping to grow God's church and bringing unbelievers to the Lord.  It's been awesome!

In other news, I have a job at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) on a Cardiothoracic Telemetry unit.  I am loving my job, feeling challenged, and having a great time.  Right now, we're in our internship so we're having classes twice a week and on the floor twice a week with a "clinical coach."  I feel like I'm learning so much, and really enjoying my work.  What a blessing! Of course, this means that I graduated and passed the NCLEX and I'm a Registered Nurse!  Yay!  So many years of work rewarded.

Of course during this stint of no blogging we did some traveling too.  In March we went to Israel with my mom and dad and we met Andrew and Kristin there (they flew up from Swaziland).  It was an AMAZING trip.  We saw so much and learned so much and got to spend time with my favorite family in the world.  I could never do the trip justice in one paragraph.  Maybe sometime I'll write a little post about the trip.  But for now - it was awesome.  We also went skiing in Crested Butte for spring break which was tons of fun.  No second degree sun burns for me this time!  In May, I had my nursing pinning and graduation.   That pretty much sums it up.

I know that wasn't a quick update really, but those are the big things that have happened to us this year so far.  Hopefully lots more to come!

We celebrated our one year anniversary last Sunday and to celebrate we went down to Fredericksburg, TX a quaint little town outside of Austin in the hill country.  It was really cute.  We stayed in a little B and B and explored the cute town.  We also went and hiked up Enchanted Rock to find some beautiful views.

Also for our one year anniversary we decided to make a new addition to our family.  Gotcha!  We got a kitten.  :)  He's an orange tabby and we named him Max.  He's really cute and loves to play and cuddle.

Keep reading for more updates.  We'll be doing this more frequently now that I'm out of school!  :)

Christmas time!

We put up our Christmas tree!  It's real and smells great!  We keep forgetting to water it, so we hope it lasts til Christmas.  We were hoping to go to a christmas tree farm to cut one down, but it was pouring rain on the day we were going, so we opted for good old Calloway's.  Maybe next year.  I love Christmas time, especially when finals are over!

I'm also really excited because I figured out how to upload pictures for everyone to see!  Like this one:

Last weekend Aria went on the winter retreat with the Northwest Bible junior high ministry.  (I had stupid Saturday clinical.)  They went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine which is a huge indoor water park.  He said that the water park area always stayed at 84 degrees so no one was cold.  There were tons of slides, games, and time to get beat up by junior highers.  He came back with a few scratches from a wrestling match on Saturday morning.  Aria vs. 5 junior high boys.  He won of course.

The Inaugural Blog

Hi everyone!  We're excited to finally have our blog up and going.  It's been such a fun 4 months since we got married.  Lots of learning and growing.  Here's an update on what we've each been up to:

Aria got accepted to Dallas Theological Seminary last month!  We're both really excited about starting that new chapter in our lives.  Just a few months more of waiting.  In the meantime, he's teaching Algebra I at Sunset High School in Dallas ISD.  He likes it there and loves the students.  There are always funny stories.

I've been busy this semester with school.  I graduate in just 6 months so it's the home stretch!!!  Half of the semester has been spent at Children's Hospital in Dallas on a general floor for clinical.  I have loved it!!  Helping sick kids is awesome and they're so sweet!!  I also spent a day in the CVICU which was awesome.  I could definitely see myself there in the future.

We're getting ready for Thanksgiving break. So excited to get time to relax and spend time with family.
